Pediatric and geriatric patients

I understand pulse does not support pediatric and geriatric patients currently.

  1. Is there a workaround that can be applied to simulate them? Especially for pediatric patients
  2. Is there a set of configuration variables in the patient we can set to try and get as close as possible to the behaviour of a pediatric patient if not completely accurate

Hello,

Pediatric patients have different physiologic responses to injuries and treatments and medications that an adult patient. Further pediatrics is a wide range of responses, a 6 month old vs a 2 year old vs a 12 year old are not the same.

We do not model these differences currently but have sought funding to pursue this.

While you could set initial parameters, such as heart rate and blood pressure to get close to a pediatric patient initially, the response to drugs and actions would not be accurate in any way.

Probably not the response you were hoping for, but I hope it helps nonetheless.

Thanks,
Rachel

Will it be easier we are targeting just the 6 to 12 years old?

That is an adolescent population and we do not have models for that, the feedback mechanisms work differently and drug metabolism and action will be different. However, that is generally considered a stable physiologic grouping,
